Nebraska’s Honey
Still basically a sugar and fairly high in carbohydrates, natural bee’s honey – like the type so popular in Nebraska – does have 3% of daily riboflavin and iron, as well as 2% of daily Vitamin B6 and zinc, and 1% of niacin, folate, Vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium. Those may seem like small amounts, but processed sugars have little to no nutritional benefits. While honey is most often eaten on toast or in oatmeal, here’s a sweet and tangy way to enjoy honey as a dip or topping.
Simple Honey Mustard Sauce
1 cup low fat yogurt
½ cup honey
¼ cup mustard
Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl with a fork or small whisk.
