October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. During this last week of the month, we’ll be sharing the most cutting-edge digital technology that helps women track and share their breast cancer journey. We’ll also share up-to-date tips about how nutrition and specific foods can play an important role in breast cancer recovery and prevention.
For more than 25 years, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month has educated and empowered women to take charge of their breast health. Each year, new discoveries are helping to someday make breast cancer a thing of the past. Hopefully, the sooner the better. Until that bright day in the future, more than 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the United States. The American Cancer society estimates that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime.
Breast cancer affects women of all ages, however the risk increases with age. A woman in her 70s is twice as likely to develop breast cancer as a woman in her 40s. Impressively, the five-year-survival rate of women who were diagnosed early is more than 90 percent. That’s primarily due to early detection and lifestyle changes.
Throughout this week, you’ll discover how women with breast cancer can use the latest technology to engage with others, and enhance their breast cancer recovery and prevention through nutrition and lifestyle choices.
